Boston’s First Lady of Jazz returns to Maudslay by popular demand to close out our 2008 season. Rebecca Parris is always a favorite of our audiences. Jazz World’s Frank Bouchard writes, “She is that rare bird: The true jazz singer with the soul of an entertainer.”
Parris’s resume reads like a page from the entertainment news mags. Although she started her professional career in music working with various top 40’s bands in the Northeast, Rebecca found that she preferred singing jazz and embarked upon a career in the jazz world. She has performed all over the world with her own groups, as well as with some of jazz’s greatest legends, including Dizzy Gillespie, Buddy Rich, Woody Herman, Terry Gibbs, David “Fathead” Newman, Norman Simmons. Harold Jones, Andy Simpkins, Gerry Wiggins, Bill Cunliffe, Red Mitchell, Buster Cooper, Nat Pierce, and many others.
Showtime: 7:00pm. Doors open at 6:00pm.
